Description
Passing this course meets the training requirement for California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Supervisor/Project Monitor and U.S. EPA Supervisor certification, which allows you to oversee lead-related construction or abatement work.
It prepares you to work with consultants, industrial hygienists, journeymen, engineers, and housing specialists to develop project specifications and/or prepare lead abatement plans. You learn about how to safely handle lead-containing materials during construction, renovation, or abatement projects and how abatement is performed in a variety of settings and conditions.
Experienced environmental consultants and lead abatement contractors share the most up-to-date information on:
- lead hazard control methods
- safety measures
- work practices
- how to evaluate options in particular situations
- how to do final clearance testing.
In hands-on workshops, under the direction of experienced lead supervisors and project monitors, you practice:
- building containments
- using HEPA-attached grinding tools
- cleaning areas contaminated with invisible particles
- taking air samples
- safely using removal chemicals
- evaluating abatement equipment and techniques
