SUMMARY:EPA Renovation\, Repair and Painting (RRP) Initial Course 8-Hour
DESCRIPTION:This 8-hour EPA Renovation\, Repair and Painting (RRP) Initial course is required for individuals seeking to become an EPA-Certified Renovator under the federal Lead Renovation\, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule (40 CFR Part 745). Successful completion of this course allows individuals to perform renovation\, repair\, and painting activities that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities. \nThe EPA RRP Rule applies to contractors\, property managers\, maintenance personnel\, and firms performing work for compensation that disturbs painted surfaces in residential properties built before 1978 or in facilities regularly occupied by children under six years of age.  \nThis course provides both classroom instruction and hands-on training in lead-safe work practices\, including required containment and cleaning procedures. \nTopics covered include: \n\n Overview of the EPA Lead Renovation\, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule\n • Health effects of lead exposure\n • Identifying lead-based paint hazards\n • Lead-safe work practices and prohibited methods\n • Proper containment setup and dust control\n • Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements\n • Cleaning verification procedures\n • Recordkeeping and documentation requirements\n • Responsibilities of the Certified Renovator\n\nStudents must successfully complete the hands-on skills assessment and pass the required examination to receive EPA Certified Renovator documentation. \nCertification is valid for five years. To maintain certification without interruption\, individuals must complete the 4-hour EPA RRP Refresher course prior to expiration. \nParra Environmental Training provides EPA-accredited RRP training designed to meet federal requirements while emphasizing practical\, field-based application of lead-safe renovation practices. \nFailure to comply with the RRP Rule can result in fines of over $35\,ooo\, by the EPA
