It meets federal and California regulations\, including OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 and EPA 40 CFR 763 Subpart E. \nStudents will receive in-depth instruction on: \n\nFederal and state asbestos regulations (EPA\, OSHA\, Cal-OSHA)\nAsbestos health effects and respiratory protection programs\nWorksite containment setup (negative air enclosures\, glovebag procedures & mini-enclosures)\nSafe removal practices\, decontamination protocols\, and PPE usage\nAir sampling strategies\, coordination strategies (with general contractors\, environmental consultants\, regulatory agencies and more)\,\, and record keeping\nLegal liability\, insurance\, and jobsite safety management\n\nInstruction includes classroom-based theory and 16+ hours of hands-on training with state-of-the-art equipment. Students build and inspect containment systems and conduct supervised mock abatement procedures. \nThis course is mandatory for Certified Asbestos Consultants (CAC)\, Site Surveillance Technicians (CSST)\, and abatement supervisors in California. \nNo prerequisites required.\nFull attendance is mandatory and a passing score of 70% on a closed-book\, multiple choice final exam to receive the AHERA Contractor/Supervisor certification. \nRefresher training is required every year afterwards to maintain certification.
