AHERA Asbestos Worker Initial Training Required Training for All Asbestos Abatement Workers
The AHERA Asbestos Worker Initial Certification course delivers 32 hours of hands-on instruction for individuals who conduct Class I and II asbestos work, including removal, enclosure, and encapsulation of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). It satisfies all regulatory training requirements under OSHA, EPA, and Cal‑OSHA. Therefore, this course is essential for workers involved in abatement projects in schools, commercial buildings, and public facilities. Additionally, students learn how to operate within Negative Pressure Enclosures (NPEs) and set up critical containment systems safely. The training covers asbestos health risks, personal protective equipment (PPE), and decontamination procedures. Moreover, students receive instruction in glovebag and mini-enclosure methods, along with air monitoring techniques. Most importantly, participants complete at least 8 hours of guided hands-on practice to reinforce field readiness. No prior experience is needed to enroll.

Each student must actively participate to show competency.

Full attendance is required to receive an AHERA Asbestos Worker certificate.
