AHERA Project Designer Initial Certification training in Concord, CA Parra Environmental Bay AreaThis 3-day (24-hour) AHERA Project Designer Initial-accredited course fulfills EPA and Cal-OSHA requirements for individuals responsible for designing asbestos abatement projects in schools and public, commercial, or industrial buildings. It is a required course for those pursuing certification as a Cal-OSHA Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC).

Participants will learn to:

  • Develop detailed asbestos abatement plans and technical specifications
  • Design engineering controls and project phasing strategies
  • Address abatement in occupied buildings
  • Prepare bid packages, project drawings, and response action schematics
  • Evaluate conditions and select appropriate asbestos response options
  • Estimate project costs and review contractor bids
  • Apply AHERA and Cal-OSHA regulations, legal liability considerations, and safety protocols

Hands-on exercises include reviewing project drawings and drafting abatement design based on real-world parameters. Students should be familiar with Contractor/Supervisor practices prior to attending, though AHERA Contractor/Supervisor certification is not legally required.

Full attendance is required to receive an AHERA Project Designer certificate.
