AHERA Contractor Supervisor Initial Training (40 Hours)

AHERA Contractor Supervisor Initial Certification training in Concord, CA Parra Environmental Bay AreaThis Cal-OSHA-accredited, EPA/AHERA-compliant 40-hour course provides the training necessary for anyone supervising asbestos abatement activities or fulfilling the role of an OSHA competent person on an asbestos project. It meets federal and California regulations, including OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 and EPA 40 CFR 763 Subpart E.

Students will receive in-depth instruction on:

  • Federal and state asbestos regulations (EPA, OSHA, Cal-OSHA)
  • Asbestos health effects and respiratory protection programs
  • Worksite containment setup (negative air enclosures, glovebag procedures & mini-enclosures)
  • Safe removal practices, decontamination protocols, and PPE usage
  • Air sampling strategies, coordination strategies (with general contractors, environmental consultants, regulatory agencies and more),, and record keeping
  • Legal liability, insurance, and jobsite safety management

Instruction includes classroom-based theory and 16+ hours of hands-on training with state-of-the-art equipment. Students build and inspect containment systems and conduct supervised mock abatement procedures.

This course is mandatory for Certified Asbestos Consultants (CAC), Site Surveillance Technicians (CSST), and abatement supervisors in California.

No prerequisites required.
Full attendance is mandatory and a passing score of 70% on a closed-book, multiple choice final exam to receive the AHERA Contractor/Supervisor certification.

Refresher training is required every year afterwards to maintain certification.
